Chinese Target French Companies Through Social Networks

According to the French Newspaper Le Figaro, thousands of employees of the French civil services have been “approached” by China, through professional social networks, such as LinkedIn

Le Figaro claims that officers of DGIS (Direction générale de la sécurité intérieure) and DGSE (Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure) have uncovered massive looting of sensitive data by the principal intelligence services of the Peoples Republic of China.

It is suggested that the executives and employees of public services, strategic companies and circles of influence have been “approached” by China through professional social networks, in particular, LinkedIn. Although they claim to have stopped many of the targeting, they say that “several hundred targets have entered a fairly successful compromise process.”
